Kari's blog
History:
Kari joined God's family at an early age of 5 years old. Her childhood's faith grew to something she refers to now as an open commitment at 12 years old. She surrendered to missions, not knowing exactly what that would like for her. Through a series of making plans and changing them, she maintained that she is "prepared to go, but willing to stay."
Kari was a staffer for the summer of '07 and is still amazed at the reality of the family she entered into. Such a strong and genuine love is a rare treasure!
The one thing she swore she would NEVER become was a teacher—particularly a middle school teacher…thus she continues the cycle of making and changing plans according to the Lord's prompting.

Strategy:
Due to the Sovereign Father's twisted sense of humor, Kari now finds herself in the front of the classroom of kids who call her “Miss Marshall.” Yes, she is a teacher by her own choice, which developed as she explored the Lord's gifting and will in her life. Go figure! She serves as a teacher at Hillcrest School in Nigeria . Hillcrest is an International Christian School which admits 60% missionary kids and 40% non-missionary kids (who are predominately Nigerian, but also Egyptian, Lebanese, Indian, and other). She teaches English to 6th-8th grade students and leads a discipleship group to eighteen 6th grade girls. She signed a contract for 2 years of service, and prefers not to admit to any plans just yet because she anticipates them to change anyway.
Prayer Requests:
- Daily ministry of the Spirit. Sometimes being a loving teacher is just plain hard and stressful.
- Peace in my city, Jos. Some of you may be aware of the crisis that flared up after the elections in November 2008. Rumors of another uprising are constant and easy to be believed. Nothing short of a miracle will bring true peace. May God's truth change the lives of both “Christian” and Muslim Nigerians.
- More teachers for Hillcrest. Many teachers are leaving next year for various reasons and leaving several holes to fill.
- We also need hostel parents to love and take care of the boarding students.
